BLOG- Why I chose this topic

Updated: Jan 8, 2020

I have always been an avid sports fan, and in particular have a keen interest in both Rugby Union and Football. I have always compared the two, and I had become intrigued as to why one sport was able to deal so well with Concussion injuries, while the other lagged behind and almost appeared un-governed in relation to concussion injuries, and implementing the correct protocol.

Recently, there has been an increase in incidents in football matches which have highlighted this issue. There started to be murmurings that temporary concussion substitutions may be introduced in the near future.

I wanted to highlight the lack of coverage towards concussion injuries in the game of football, and learn more about what is currently done, and what more potentially needs to be done.

I hope that this documentary will broaden the discussion surrounding concussion injuries in football and hopefully lead to protocols being introduced, so that players welfare can be the best that it can possibly be.
